Suarez favored vs Estrada in Reboot 2021

Suarez & EstradaRIO Olympics veteran Charly Suarez returns to the fight scene when he takes on Jonjon “Wolverine” Estrada in the main event of Reboot 2021: Dawn of a New Beginning on Saturday, Feb. 13 in Paniqui, Tarlac.

Suarez, one of the country’s finest fighters, is expected to put up another strong performance against Estrada in the blockbuster promotions presented by the Ultimate Knock-Out Challenge and VSP Promotions.

The 32-year-old pride of San Isidro, Davao del Norte is undefeated in four matches since turning pro in 2019.

A three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist in 2009, 2011 and 2019, Suarez captured the Luzon Professional Boxing Association (LUZPROBA) super featherweight crown with a third round technical knockout victory over Dave Barlas of General Santos City last Feb 7, 2920.

Suarez also won over Justin Cabarles of Digos City via second round knockout to win the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MINPROBA) lightweight title at the Dujali gymnasium in Davao del Norte last March 5, 2019.

A lightweight silver medalist in 2014 Incheon Asian Games, Suarez also won over Ernesto Cagampang by TKO in his pro debut on Jan. 16, 2019 and Virgil Puton by TKO on Aug. 24, 2019.

Estrada, the pride of San Andres, Quezon, boasts of a ring record of 11 wins, including 10 KOs, seven losses and one draw in the super featherweight division.

The 31-year-old Estrada is hoping to get back into the winning track after losing his last three fights against foreign rivals Koshin Takeshima of Japan.Vladislav Krasnoshein of Russia and Akzhol Sulaimanbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan.

Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra lauded the promoters of the boxing card for putting up. “We understand that mounting of a pro boxing event is expensive at this time because we need to follow all the government-mandated quarantine and testing protocols,” Mitra told Powcast Sports.

We want to commend our boxing promoters for their dedication to push for this much-awaited event and for allowing our professional fighters to sustain their livelihood despite all these challenges,” added Mitra.

Mitra noted that the fighters and their managers are now billeted at Villa Soccoro, Poblacion Norte in Paniqui, Tarlac, to follow GAB’s pre-tournament and quarantine protocols

In the co-main event, Alphoe Dagayloan will try to capture the vacant Philippine flyweight championship against top prospect Ben Ligas of Elorde Pegasus.

Dagayloan fought against Carlo Penalosa last year at Elorde Sports Complex.

Three other exciting pro matches will be featured in Reboot 2021: Ranelio Quizo of Elorde Southbox against Andrew Laurio of Hardstone Monis in super flyweight division; Lorenz Ladrada of VSP Boxing Stable against Remon Basas of Olivetti Boxing Gym for the vacant featherweight championship ; and Ali Canega of Marty Elorde Stable against Glenn Bismanos of El Tigre Boxing Gym in the super lightweight division.
