1 killed, 3 hurt in SLEX mishap

A RANKING official of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) urged the management of all expressways in the country to intensify their enforcement of safety operations to prevent bloody vehicular accidents.

Engineer Alberto H. Suansing, senior adviser for Land Transportation of the DOTr, said thus following the latest bloody accident Tuesday morning at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

A police report said at least one person was killed while three others were injured in the mishap.

Suansing also advised motorists to be extra vigilant by seriously observing traffic rules and regulations inside and outside the expressways.

“Invest in enforcement! Field more patrol cars, prevention is better than cure,” said Suansing.

All our expressway in the country are equipped with all equipments such as CCTV, patrol cars among others.

“Paigtingin pa ang enforcement, may na monitor ang overspeeding caution agad, nakikita naman sa CCTV yan, maitatawag agad sa patrol car na nasa field sa loob ng freeway,” said Suansing.

In a separate interview, Land Transportation Office-Region 4A-Operation Division in a statement said that for R4A strict measures are being undertaken in the issuance of licenses and in the renewal of vehicle registration. Vehicles are inspected for roadworthiness to ensure that motorists are alway safe while on the road.
