DLSU among the World’s Leading Sustainable Universities

DLSU

For the fifth straight year, De La Salle University is among the top universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education (THE) for its success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). DLSU retains its standing in this year’s Impact Rankings, placing in the 401-600 bracket.

The University was ranked in four SDGs: Clean Water and Sanitation (Top 45), Responsible Consumption and Production (101-200), Life Below Water (101-200), and Partnership for the Goals (201-300).

La Salle improved its ranking in the Clean Water and Sanitation category (SGD 6) through its various efforts on improving waste management, sewage treatment plants, and other initiatives led by the Campus Sustainability Office. In its continuous pursuit of SGD 12 or Responsible Consumption and Production, DLSU was able to improve its global standing this year. It has consistently implemented the ban on single use of plastics on all its campuses. It also regularly sponsors seminars and workshops to raise the academic community’s awareness on the said topic.

For the Life Below Water category, or SDG 14, the DLSU’s Br. Alfred Shields Ocean Research Center (SHORE) has numerous research and social engagement programs dedicated to protecting marine life. In addressing SDG 17 or Partnership for the Goals, DLSU also bolstered its ranking through its collaborations with local government units as well as various local and international NGOs.

The rankings analyze universities across research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. For more information, visit: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/impactrankings
