Ex-Cavite Gov. Maliksi passes away at 82

Erineo MaliksiIMUS CITY, Cavite — The whole province mourns the passing of former Governor Erineo ‘Ayong’ Maliksi, Wednesday night, February 24, 2021 as confirmed by his son, Imus City Mayor Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Maliksi.He was 82.

Cavite leaders expressed condolences on the passing of three time provincial chief executive, congressman, mayor and vice mayor of then town, now progressive City of Imus.

Maliksi was born March 1938 in Imus City. He graduated with a Political Science degree from the University of the East.

He was governor from 2001 to 2010, congressman from 1998 to 2001 and 2010 to 2013, mayor of Imus from 1988 to 1998, vice mayor from 1980 to 1986 and PCSO chair from 2015 to 2016.

Maliksi finished his elementary education at Anabu II Elementary School in Imus in 1951 and his secondary education at the Del Pilar Academy, also in Imus, in 1955. In 1969, Maliksi graduated from University of the East earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Maliksi is survived by his wife Olivia, son Imus Mayor Manny Maliksi, daughter-in-law Jerly and grandsons.

Deputy Speaker Strike Revilla, on his Facebook account, said, “Ang amin pong buong pamilya ay nakikiramay sa mga naulila at mahal sa buhay ni former Governor Erineo ‘Ayong’ Maliksi. He was not only a respected and inspiring public servant, Gov. Ayong was also a very dear friend to our Daddy Ramon. We will forever remember the legacies and wonderful memories he left behind. May his soul rest in peace.

Among those who expressed their condolences were Congressman Bambol Tolentino and wife Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino, Carmona Mayor Roy Loyola and wife Congresswoman Dahlia Loyola, Congressman Pidi Barzaga and Wife Dasmarinas City Mayor Jenny, Congressman Boying Remulla and Son Boardmember Ping Remulla, Congressman Boy Blue Abaya, Kawit Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, Mayor Dino Chua of Noveleta, Mayor Yuri Pacumio of Tanza, GenTri Mayor Antonio Ferrer, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Revilla.

Then Cong. Ayong of 2nd District of Cavite challenged then Governor, now Senator Bong Revillla for the gubernatorial post and won the race in 2001. He ran for reelection in 2004 and 2007.
