Isko: Eat, buy in Manila, win 7th generation Ipad

EAT, buy or take out food and other products in Manila and get a chance to win a 7th generation Ipad.

This invitation was extended by Mayor Isko Moreno to all those who are out to go shopping, eat out or buy food or any other kinds of merchandise in an effort to revive the business climate in the city and pump up the economy amid the pandemic. It is open to all.

Moreno announced that for four weeks every Friday, the city government of Manila will be giving away Ipads as part of a campaign for the public to ‘buy local, eat local.’

All that one has to do is download the ‘Challenge Accepted’ poster, take a selfie while eating or buying in any establishment in Manila or holding the product that he had bought and post it on social media with the hashtag, “#Challenge AcceptedBuyLocalEatLocalManila” any day from Monday to Wednesday. The city government will then choose 20 entries and post them on Facebook. The one that will generate the most reactions will be the winner.

“Karinderya, tindahan, restaurant, clothing, palengke, lahat ng negosyo sa Maynila. Magdownload ka ng selfie sa karinderya ng kapitbahay mong tsismosa o kaya sa tambayan ng tatay mong umiinom. It doesn’t matter where as long as it’s in Manila. Pwedeng habang kumakain or nagta-takeout o bumibili ka ng tumbong, kamto, pares o halo-halo sa palengke,” Moreno said.

Moreno said the contest is also meant to encourage the public, specially Manilans, to love their own by patronizing the businesses in the city where they live.

This is also in line with the ‘Support Local Program’ launched by business permit and licensing office chief Levi Facundo which intends to support the businesses based in the city.

Facundo explained that the #ManilaSupportLocalChallenge was launched “to create an activity that will drive spending to local businesses be it face to face or on-line transaction, whether goods or service for as long as the spending is made here in the City Of Manila. “

“We’ve made progress since we started giving out ‘Local Support’ shirts through our seven-day challenge with almost 800 members and over 130 activities posted. These buying activities have injected our local economy with approximately P40k in one week and if continued will make about P160k in one month,” Facundo explained.

“But what if everyone will join and contribute? Say we have about 3,000 members spending at an average of P300 when you eat out, do grocery, go to a salon, gassing up, having coffee or snacks… That’ll be over P25 million in local money injected to our local economy! The Manila Support Local MUST succeed because this will be the home of all the campaigns we are doing. So please join us and ask your employees, friends and loved ones to do the same and increase our membership, and spending,” Facundo added.

Meanwhile, Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna led the ceremonial turnover of the free laptops, tablets and pocket wifis to the public school students and teachers so they can use the said devices for distant, blended learning. The city alloted about P1 billion for the purpose.
