A Japanese fugitive wanted by authorities in his country for involvement in illegal recruitment and falsifying official documents was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration-fugitive search unit (BI-FSU).

The said Japanese was identified by BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco as Amano Mototaka, 50. He was nabbed on Monday along Arellano Ave. in Sta. Ana, Manila by operatives from the BI-FSU headed by Rendel Ryan Sy.

Amano, according to Tansingco, is subject of an arrest warrant issued by a summary court in Nagoya, Japan on Sept. 30, 2022 but eluded capture by fleeing to the Philippines. He is now detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.

“We issued a mission order for his arrest after we received information from Japanese authorities that he is a wanted criminal, set to stand trial in Japan for his alleged crimes,” said Tansingco.

A report forwarded by Sy to Tansingco said that Amano was accused before the Nagoya court of falsifying false entries in original electromagnetic notarized deeds and offering them for sale.

This is a violation Japan’s control and improvement of amusement business punishable under the country’s penal code, the BI chief said.

According to Sy, Mototaka is also under investigation in Japan for arranging fake marriages of Filipino applicants so the latter can acquire long-term resident visas and eventually recruit them to work in his illegally-operated entertainment bar.
