Taxi, Revo hit, kill man in Antipolo; wife hurt

CAMP BGEN. Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Laguna — A man died while his wife was seriously hurt when they were accidentally hit by vehicles while crossing a road in Bgy. Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, Rizal, Sunday morning.

Antipolo police identified the fatality as Welouvie Flores Manay. Injured was his wife Arlen Regenio Manay.

The couple was seen crossing the street around 4:30 a.m., January 17 when they were hit by a speeding taxi driven by Wilfredo Vergara who was heading towards Cogeo, Rizal.

Due to the impact, Welouvie was thrown off and landed on the other side of the road. However, he was hit by an oncoming Toyota Revo driven by Benedicto Nitura while his wife rolled over to the concrete pavement.

Rescue ambulance brought Arlene to the Amang Rodriguez Hospital in Marikina City while her husband Welouvie was rushed to the Antipolo District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Dr. Rizza V. Ayudtud.

Police investigation is ongoing.
