The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is 100% ready for the October 30, 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Comelec Spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco told a public briefing that at present, nearly 92 million ballots that would be used for the said polls have already been printed.

Laudiangco said that all that is left to do by the Comelec is to print additional ballots for new voters and another 1.6 million ballots for voters who have been reactivated.

He added that all of these can be finished by the poll body in a matter of three days.

According to Laudiangco, necessary deployment and training will be conducted for teachers who will serve as members of the electoral boards.

“Ito ay gagawin namin isa o dalawang buwan bago ang halalan para fresh pa ang training sa ating mga guro by the time dumating ang halalan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Laudiangco expressed support for the proposed early voting for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“Buong puso sinusuportahan ng Comelec ang early voting bill para sa ating mga senior citizens, PWDs at mga human resources for health. Humihiling lang po kami ng karagdagang pondo para mas maayos po natin maipatupad ang early voting po,” he said.
