Honest CEB employees return left-behind bag of former governor

A FORMER provincial governor was able to retrieve his bag containing, among others, P200,000 in cash, when honest employees from Cebu Pacific found and turned it over to authorities for proper disposition.

It was learned that the ex-governor, whose name was not disclosed, was a passenger of Cebu Pacific flight 5J 374 that had already departed for Manila from Roxas Airport on March 10, 2023 when it was found by when Cebu Pacific employees Roque Arcenio and Victor Aragon. The said employees had the said bag endorsed to the Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) personnel of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) who, in turn, asked assistance from the PNP-Aviation Security Unit.

CAAP’s Roxas Airport employees headed by Airport Manager II Monico Basallote then turned over the sling bag containing said cash, medicines and important documents to the owner’s representative who came forward to claim it.

Meanwhile, it was learned that on the same day, a valuable baggage of passengers had been left behind at the airport and were found by the CSIS personnel in the arrival area. Through the efforts of the CSIS personnel, they were able to identify the owners and immediately facilitated the return of the said baggage.

Both the sling bag and baggage were turned over to their respective owners on the same day.

Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo meanwhile commended the men and women of CAAP for their admirable acts of honesty in line of duty.
