THE Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) announced the names of officers who will lead the league as it prepares for its inaugural season next year.

Michael Angelo O. Chua of San Juan was named as Chairman of the Board, along with Ariel Potot of Cordova as Vice Chairman, Atty. Paul Elauria as President/Commissioner, Arnel A. Batungbakal of Caloocan as Treasurer, Atty. Allen Michael B. Escudero as Corporate Secretary and Noel Garcia as Deputy Commissioner for the North Division.

Still to be selected is the Deputy Commissioner for the South Division.

The PCAP directors will be composed of representatives from Cagayan, Caloocan, Camarines, Cordova, Iloilo, Iriga, Mindoro, Negros, Palawan, San Juan, Surigao and Zamboanga.

Elauria announced the PCAP drawing of lots will be held as scheduled on Saturday.

Mock draft is set on Nov. 28, while the official Draft Day is set on Dec. 12.

Team discussions with prospective players, including terms of the contract will be held on Nov 21 to Dec 11.

Application for licensing with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) will be from Dec. 13 to Jan. 8.

The first conference begins Jan. 16.

Based on groupings, teams are divided into two groups:

North — Antipolo, Cabuyao, Cagayan, Caloocan, Isabela, General Trias, Manila, Olongapo, Pasig, Rizal and San Juan.

South — Camarines, Cordova, Iloilo, Iriga, Lapu-Lapu, Mindoro, Negros, Palawan, Surigao, Toledo and Zamboanga.

Same division teams will play twice, while different division teams play once.
