PRO-COR cops tests negative for illegal drugs

CAMP Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet — As part of the PNP’s intensified internal cleansing efforts, the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) through the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) conducted random drug tests on its personnel to weed out drug users among its ranks.

PBGen. R’win Pagkalinawan, PRO-COR Regional Director said, for this year, of the 4,279 personnel who were randomly tested, 4,225 were uniformed personnel while 54 are non-uniformed personnel. On the other hand, 681 personnel of station, provincial, city and regional Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) were mandatory tested.

An official said drug tests were conducted with the following breakdown: Regional Headquarters – 892; Abra PPO – 718; Apayao PPO – 241; Benguet PPO – 275; Ifugao PPO – 692; Kalinga PPO – 541; Mountain Province PPO – 303 and Baguio City Police Office – 617.

According to RCLO data, the result of the drug test conducted on PRO-COR personnel turned out negative for illegal drugs.

Pagkalinawan said that aside from the regular random drug testing, personnel vying for promotion and schooling are subjected to drug tests. Personnel who test positive are immediately slapped with administratice cases and subjected to summary dismissal proceedings.
