A DISMISSED Caloocan City cop and his companion were shot dead inside a passenger jeepney yesterday morning in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Manila Police District-Station 3 Commander Lt.Col. John Guiagui said the incident occurred at around 10 a.m. along Quezon Boulevard.

The ex-policeman was identified as Reynaldo Nuque, Jr., 40, of 201 Gov. Pascual Tugato, Malabon City while his companion was identified as Felizardo Pablico, 49, said to be a member of the Sputnik Gang and with address at 2757 Juan Luna St., Sta. Cruz.

Guiagui said Nuque and Pablico were on board a passenger jeepney en route to Quiapo when at least two unidentified motorcycle-riding men wearing black jackets, helmets and face masks appeared at the right side of the passenger jeepney and suddenly fired at the two.

The gunmen then sped away towards Recto Avenue.

Citing records, Guiagui said Nuque got arrested also by his station on November 11 last year for a case of robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

Guiagui added that verification showed the ex-cop was involved in a series of robbery-holdup incidents in the Camanava area and in Bulacan prior to the ambush.

He added that on July 28, 2011, Nuque got involved in the robbery-holdup of a retired policeman who was shot dead in Valenzuela City. The incident, Guiagui said, led to Nuque’s dismissal from the service.
