A DAY after powerful Typhoon Ulysses struck Metro Manila, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan ordered the City Engineering Office (CEO) and the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM) to clear all roads of debris and fallen tree branches.
CEO personnel were also tasked by Mayor Oca to repair all street lights that were damaged by strong winds while the City Environmental Office was instructed to distribute cleaning materials and lead the hauling, collecting and disposal of debris.
With the directive of the city chief executive and Congressman Dale “Along” Malapitan, the city government started early Friday in conducting medical mission at the Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School and Kalayaan Elementary school which were used as evacuation centers for families and individuals affected by the Typhoon Ulysses wrath.
The mayor said at least 22 families were still currently staying at the evacuation centers and were being taken care of by the City Social Welfare Department.
Caloocan City Health Officer Dra. Evelyn Cuevas also sent medical teams to Barangay 28 in Dagat-Dagatan Avenue, Barangay 175 in Camarin and Barangay 164 in Barrio Talipapa while Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC) Administrator Dr. Fernando Santos led his doctors, nurses and health workers in conducting medical mission and the distribution of medicines and vitamins to children, senior citizens and pregnant women in Barangay 34, Maypajo.
