‘Ofel’ seen to exit PH Friday

TROPICAL Depression (TD) Ofel is forecast to remain a tropical depression while crossing the Southern Luzon area, but it may intensify into a storm when it crosses the West Philippine Sea on Thursday morning.

It is seen to exit the Philippines on Friday. tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 1 was hoisted over Batangas, the southern portion of Laguna, and central and southern portions of Quezon. Strong to near gale force winds will be experienced in these areas.

Occasional gusts associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow may be experienced over Batanes, the northern and eastern portions of Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), the northern portion of Apayao, Ilocos Norte, and Quezon, the eastern portion of Isabela, and Aurora.

Gale warning is still in effect over the seaboards of Batanes and Ilocos Norte, and the northern seaboard of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands due to rough seas.

PAGASA also maintained that moderate to rough seas will prevail over the eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas in the next 24 hours. Philippine News Agency
