THE Office Transportation Security (OTS) is studying if the US flights of the Philippine Airlines should continue at the Ninoy Aquino International airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

This, after an ocular inspection was made by Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and directed Manila International Airpot Authority (MIAA) General manager Cesar Chiong to fix the operations at the NAIA terminal 2, particularly congestion, lighting, signage and aircon.

The OTS noted that currently, only one human screener is being used, which is the only one being allowed by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The metal walk thru detector is now being eased out, it was learned.

It was also noted that the space specially at the departure area is now congested so that when flights pile up, the passengers’ queues may reach the outside lobby of the terminal.

Meanwhile, PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said: “We are studying possible changes in the assignment of flights at NAIA terminals 1 and 2 to improve the overall passenger experience at our main domestic and international hub.”

Villaluna added that PAL is working closely with airport authorities on the said plans.

“We shall notify everyone once details are finalized. We remain committed to work with our aviation stakeholders in order to benefit the traveling public,” she said.
