Mayor Honey Lacuna urged all barangay officials in the city of Manila to use their position to convince those who are eligible to take their booster shots already.

Lacuna’s pronouncements came after she joined the national government, led by President Bongbong Marcos, Jr., in leading the launch of the “PinasLakas” booster shot campaign in SM Manila.

Also present in the said event where Lacuna herself administered the booster shot on Presidential son and Ilocos Norte first district Congressman Sandro Marcos were Vice Mayor Yul Servo, Department of Health officer-in-charge Rosario Vergeire and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, among others.

“Habang tumatagal ang panahon from your last vaccine, pababa na ang epekto nito o nagwa-wane off na ang bakuna kaya kailangan ng booster,” she said, noting reports that only 49 percent of the eligible population in the National Capital Region have taken the booster shots.

“Everyday, bawat lungsod me target lalo na seniors. Sa ating mga barangay, patuloy ninyong hikayatin ang inyong nakasakupan na magpa- booster na,” the lady mayor added.

Lacuna said the city of Manila is offering the booster shots in the numerous health centers, four designated shopping malls and the six hospitals being run by the local government unit.

“So please, please, nakakikiusap kami lalo na sa seniors na sana ay i-avail na po ninyo ang first booster,” the mayor said.

The second booster, Lacuna said, is also being given in Manila, although it is limited based on studies.

Those aged 18 to 49 who have comorbidities avail of the second booster while those 50 years old or older may avail even if they do not have any comorbidities.
