AN agreement was signed by Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) for the establishment of cybercrime hubs in various airports.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony between Tansingco and the CICC, for the purpose of putting up cybercrime hubs in major airports and at the BI Main office to cater to cases of online fraud and cybercrime.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the CICC is the government’s lead coordinating agency for the suppression of cybercrimes, represented in the ceremony by its Executive Director Alexander Ramos.
In the said agreement, Sandoval said the BI also agrees to provide assistance in investigations on cybercrime and fraud involving foreign nationals.
For his part, Tansingco said: “This invaluable partnership between government agencies is a major step towards eliminating cybercrime in the country,” as he further warned foreign nationals involved in cybercrime that they cannot escape liability and will be deported and blacklisted.
