DSWD supports National Disaster Resilience Month 2022

As vice chair of the disaster response cluster, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed its support for the observance this July of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2022.

With the theme, “Sambayanang Pilipino, nagkakaisa tungo sa katatagan at maunlad na kinabukasan,” the celebration aims to promote “unity towards resilience and sustainable development.” The celebration will be spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The DSWD enjoins the public to participate in the observance of the NDRM in order to build resilient communities that can adapt and immediately recover from the socio-economic shocks brought by disasters and communities.

As the new Chief of the DSWD, Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo gave his assurance that the Department will continue to support disaster risk reduction and mitigation measures and programs by providing technical assistance and capacity building mechanism to ensure that local government units around the country will be able to prepare for and immediately respond to the devastations brought by disasters and calamities.
