ORIENTAL Mindoro — Typhoon Quinta has cut a wide swath of destruction in the Province of Oriental Mindoro.

Although extensive preemptive measures were taken, the damages brought about by this natural calamity to critical infrastructure, agriculture, and houses have left our province devastated with several families displaced and with many livelihoods destroyed, said Oriental Mindoro Gov. Bonz Dolor with almost in tears.

A proposal has been submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to declare the entire province under a state of calamity to enable the provincial government to aid affected residents.

Oriental Mindoro Gov. Bonz Dolor said the provincial government has been mobilizing all available resources in responding to the aftermath of the typhoon. “This will be more challenging because of the complications being added by the current pandemic but you rest assured that recovery and relief efforts are well underway as the provincial government remains steadfast in taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of the residents of Oriental Mindoro,” he added.

We, as Oriental Mindoreños are by nature resilient and enduring, as demonstrated by the many challenges we have overcome in the past. If we remain faithful and hopeful, together we will rise from this calamity stronger. May we always have fortitude as we go through fortitude while we go through this together as a united province. May we continue carrying on with our lives with a renewed and stronger faith in the Lord” said Dolor.
