100 members cut off ties with Gabriela, denounce CPP/NPA

BAGAC, Bataan — Around 100 all-women members of the Gabriela Women’s party group officially cut off Monday their official ties with the leftist organization as they denounced the CPP/NPA rebel groups.

In their mass-oath taking witnessed by top local and police officials here the other day, the group led by Helen Tolentino pledged to support Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s peace program and announced their support for the government’s peace efforts.

Col. Joel K. Tampis, Bataan police director, said the backing out of the group from the leftist organization was a big setback to the rebels’ organization.

The group also denounced CPP/NPA Leader Jose Maria Sison whom they accused of creating trouble in the country for the past 50 years.

The group accused Gabriela party list group as being a front of the CPP/NPA rebels and expressed support to the Anti-terrorism law and the government’s ELCAC (End local communist armed conflict) or Executive order No. 70. They also called for the downing of the CPP/NPA.

Lt. Col. Emmerson Dante, deputy police director for operations, hailed the women’s courage in denouncing the leftist party, saying this will be a big boost to the government’s anti-terrorism law.
