26-member Ecija farmers’ group bolts CPP-NPA front

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — Some 26 farmers belonging to the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) withdrew their support and membership from the Pambansang Katipunan ng Magbubukid, an alleged front organization of the Communist Party of the Philippines-National People’s Army.

Lt. Col. Honorato S. Pascual Jr. 84th Infantry Battalion commander said the farmers formalized their withdrawal of support to the CPP-NPA’s PKB during simple ceremonies held in Bgy. Cawayan Bugtong on Tuesday.

Informing the people about the deception of the CPP-NPA bandits is a worthwhile endeavor, as we, in return, are saving lives. Through our information dissemination campaign, we opened their minds with the truth about these front organizations,” said Lt. Col. Pascual.

This taking of oath of allegiance to the government and the withdrawal of support was made by the farmers’ group led by Arsenia Del Rosario before Barangay Cawayan Bugtong officials led by Chairman Marcos G. Ovina.

Del Rosario confessed that they thought that the LMB was advocating for the improvement of the plights of farmers, however, they learned through the Philippine Army that they were only being used for the CPP-NPA bandit’s political agenda.

7th Infantry Division commander, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr. welcomed the decision of the 26-member Guimba LMB group to pledge their allegiance to the government.

Joining a people’s organization is a right, however, it is our duty to inform the people of what organizations will get them into trouble. So, we are calling on everyone to be careful of what organization they will be part of,” said General Rosario.
