300 families lose homes in fire

ABOUT 300 families lost their homes when fire hit a residential area in Pandacan, Manila yesterday.

FSupt. Rodolfo Denaga of the Manila Fire Department said victim John Cacho suffered second degree burns while trying to bring out his belongings.

The fire reportedly began at 9:55 a.m. in the kitchen of a house owned by Elpidia Nimor and located at 822-E Pandacan St. and quickly spread among the other houses which were made of light materials.  It reached fifth alarm and was declared fire out at 11:57 a.m.

Estimated damage to property is P2 million.
