32 arrested for tupada in Batangas

CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas — At least 32 sabungeros were arrested in separate police anti-gambling operations in the cities of Batangas, Tanauan, Lipa, and Sto. Tomas, and Lian and Cuenca towns here before Christmas day.

A report to Batangas police director Col. Rex Arvin T. Malimban by Batangas City Police Station chief Lt./Col. Gerry M. Laylo said the suspects were nabbed in a raid by Laylo’s policemen identified as Nelson Maculit, Arnel Catoy, Ernest Anthony Mendoza, Jeffrey Albunian, Laureto Fajardo, Ian Leong, Edwin Como, and Eduardo Dugay.

Laylo said the tupada was held in Bgy. Simlong, here at around 2:30 p.m. Seized from the suspects were the bet money, two fighting cocks, and two gaffs.

Tanauan City police said they handcuffed four tupada bettors and seized six fighting cocks, a gaff, and some cash money in a raid in Bgy. Hidalgo, this city.

Lipa City Police Station commander Lt/Col. Antonio G. Rotol, Jr. said his cops arrested eight illegal gamblers while in the act of betting at a tupada in Purok 8, Bgy. Pangao, here at 2 p.m. and confiscated four fighting cocks, gaffs, and betting money.

Sto. Tomas City police nabbed four persons in a tupada raid in Bgy. Santiago here around 1:30 p.m. and recovered fighting cocks, cash money, and gaffs.

Six more illegal gamblers were arrested in saparte tupada raids in Lian and Cuenca. Sezed from the scene were several fighting cocks, cash money, and gaffs.
