Ex-cop nabbed for selling shabu

MORE than P1.2 million worth of shabu was seized by authorities from three suspected drug pushers, including a former police officer, in separate buy-busts Thursday evening and Friday before dawn in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Ylagan said elements of the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) led by P/Capt. Ramon Aquiatan, Jr. arrested Ruel Sangines alias “Ginto”, 38, of Block 16, Lot 22, Phase 3, Dagat-dagatan, Bgy. 12 at the corner of Gen. Mascardo St. and EDSA at around 12:30 a.m. Friday after he handed a medium sized plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P6,000 marked money.

Seized from the suspect were 100 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P680,000, marked money consisting of a P1,000 genuine bill and five pieces boodle money, a caliber .9mm Black Widow revolver loaded with five live bullets a mobile phone and his color black and yellow motorcycle used in transporting illegal drugs.

Earlier at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Capt. Ramon Aquiatan, under the personal supervision of P/Col. Giovanni Hycenth Caliao I, head of District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) conducted drug sting against Freddielin Alayon, 37, former member of Philippine National Police (PNP) and resident of F3 Shellhouse, Kaunlaran Village and Remly Gonzaga, 27 of Florencia St., San Francisco Del Monte, Quezon City at the corner of Rizal Avenue Ext. and C-3 Road in Bgy 113.

Ylagan said the drug operation stemmed from numerous complaints received by DDEU about the rampant sale of shabu in Bgy. 12 and other adjacent barangays in Caloocan City being carried out by a former police officer.

Operatives confiscated a total of 80 grams of shabu from the suspects with standard drug price of P544,000, marked money consisting of a P1,000 genuine bill and 11 pieces of boodle money, a mobile phone and color gray Nmax motorcycle.

The arrested suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of selling and possession of illegal drugs while an additional charge for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act will be filed against Sangines.
