Korean nabbed, 35, trafficked women rescued in Angeles

POLICE operatives arrested a Korean national and his four employees and rescued 35 victims of human trafficking allegedly performing nude shows in a bar at the red light district here over the weekend.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, Col. Rommel Batangay of the city police, identified the arrested suspects as Taekyung Byun alias Kevin, the Korean manager of Sensation Gogo Bar located at Walking Street, Fields Avenue, Bgy Balibago here.

The four Filipino employees of the bar included alleged pimps and cashiers.

De Leon said joint elements of the Police Station 4 here and 3, CATTG, WCPD, CMFC, SWAT, CIU and personnel from CSWDO conducted the rescue operation after receiving reports there were lewd shows at the Sensation Gogo Bar wherein the 35 rescued victims perform nude shows.

One Retchard Yongco, the registered owner of the bar managed to elude arrest.

Appropriate charges for violation of RA 10364 (Expanded Act Anti-Trafficking in Persons) are being readied for filing in court against the suspects, including Yongco.

De Leon said the rescue operation conducted by joint forces of different police units strongly sends a message that the PNP sternly implements its focused police operations to curb all forms of criminality within the four corners of the country.
