Kuya Gob delivers, yet again

Edwin Jubahib

It was another award-winning performance. Gov. Edwin Jubahib, fondly known as Kuya Gob in his beloved Davao del Norte, left no stone unturned when he and Davao del Norte hosted the 3rd General Assembly (GA) of the League of Provinces of the Philippines.

When some governors arrived on 17 February 2023, a feast for them, along with barangay officers of the Samal Island Garden City, was prepared. The next day, 18 February 2023, before the scheduled GA, the governors were transported and escorted by PNP personnel and coast guards via speed boats to the iconic Pearl Farm for another feast.

During the GA, before the scheduled awarding of the certificate of appreciation, the governors were impressed with the presentation on the best practices of Davao del Norte that the said certificate was immediately conferred.

The day was capped by Governors’ Night for another sumptuous feast and cultural presentation. Lending their vocal powers that night, Gov. Riano, Gov. Mandanas, and, certainly, Gov. Jubahib also gave sterling performances for the other governors and guests.

The hosting was surely an administrative nightmare to ensure warm reception of governors flying in or arriving at different time, transporting them via barge to Club Samal Resort, billeting them, and ensuring their safety and security for three (3) days, Davao del Norte, with the able support of the LPP National Secretariat, the staff of governor’s office, and PNP personnel, had proven that with will and grit, planning and coordination, none can be overcome.

Kuya Gob and Davao del Norte have been earlier conferred with following awards from DILG, PNP, OCD, DTI and other institutions, such as the Seal of Good Local Governance (SILG), Insurgency-Free Province, Gawad Kalasag, 3rd Competitive Province, Most Business-Friendly Province, Governor of the Year, and Most Sustainable and Livable Province, among others.
