Landlord shot dead by tenant over rent

A LANDLORD was shot dead allegedly by his tenant after they engaged in a verbal tussle an apartment rent on Pacheco Street, Tondo, Manila.

Ronaldo Chiapoco, 41, of Pacheco, Tondo, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital for a gunshot wound in the neck and body.

The suspect, Jeremy Norada, 26, of 150 Sardonyx St., Tondo, was nabbed during a follow-up operation three hours after the incident on Block 15, Lot 22, Celina Subdivision in Malagasang Imus, Cavite.

Investigation by PSSgt. Mark Daniel de Guzman of the Manila Police District-homicide section showed the incident occurred at 12:30 p.m.

The victim’s uncle told probers that he saw Chiapoco and Norada arguing over unpaid rent.

The suspect then allegedly drew a gun and the two grappled for it. The suspect got his gun back and fired at the victim twice before fleeing the scene.

Prior to the shooting, the victim was said to have lodged a complaint against the suspect for threatening to shoot him too.
