Quinta death toll rises to 9

THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the number of fatalities due to the onslaught of Typhoon Quinta has risen to nine.

An update issued by the agency showed the fatalities came from CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region VI and Region VIII. It added that six were wounded and two remain missing from the said regions.

In a separate report, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said that five individuals, who were from Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Albay, died due to Quinta. A report from OCD Region V showed that six persons were missing while 15 others were injured.

The report added that a total of 49,557 families or 209,457 individuals from 787 barangays in Region III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Regions VI and VIII were affected by the typhoon. Of the total number, 12,233 families or 48,417 individuals are being assisted in 704 evacuation centers.

In Bicol, 252,944 families or 992,404 persons were affected by the weather disturbance.

Quinta left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning. The NDRRMC also reported that the damage to agriculture and infrastructure caused by Quinta in Regions I, III, V, VI and CALABARZON has reached P429,726,344.
