2 men held for dumping P82K MJ into Pasig River

GANDARA Police Community Precinct operatives arrested two men who were reported to have been caught dumping trash into the Pasig River.

The suspects landed in deeper trouble when it was found out that the trash bag actually contained marijuana worth P82,000.

Apart from violation of Presidential Decree No. 825 which provides penalty for improper disposal of garbage and other forms of uncleanliness, also charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were suspects McDavid Chua, 29 and Garner Cunanan, 19, both of No. 1317 C.M. Recto Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila .

Investigation by P/ Staff Sgt. Jefrey Bohol said the arrest was made at around 7 a.m. at Muelle Del Banco corner T. Pinpin Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

P/Cpl. Reymil Hombrebueno and P/Cpl. Nicolette Victor Songcayawon of the Gandara Police Community Precinct were patrolling the area when a concerned resident informed them that the two suspects were dumping trash into the river. The police went to the area and arrested the duo.

When reviewed in the CCTV, Chua was seen getting the said black plastic trash bag from the utility box in his motorcycle, the same bag found floating in the river.

The said bag yielded nine pieces of resealable plastic bags containing marijuana wrapped in newspaper and then with duct tape. The marijuana weighed a total of 1.5 kilos.
