Lady cop fired gun due to ‘jealousy’

JEALOUSY is being eyed as the reason why a lady cop fired her service firearm indiscriminately on New Year’s eve in Malabon City.

This was revealed by Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/BGen. Eliseo Cruz following the statement given by live-in partner of P/SSgt. Karen Borromeo, who revealed to the police that she engaged in a heated altercation with her partner due to jealousy, before the latter fired her gun indiscriminately.

Borromeo, 39, of Purok 6 Dulong Hernandez St., Bgy. Catmon and assigned at the Malabon Police Sub-Station 4, surrendered to P/Lt. Mannyric Delos Angeles, commander of Malabon Police Sub-Station 6, who responded to the area upon receiving complaint from a concerned citizen regarding the incident.

A Sky Cable imstaller who was on the roof of his house heard several gun fires at around 7:45 p.m. prompting him to report the incident to operatives of Sub-Station 6 who responded to the area in front of a house on 119 Dulong Herrera St., Bgy. Ibaba where they met SSgt. Borromeo who voluntarily surrendered his cal. 9mm Glock service firearm.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered 14 empty shells for cal. 9mm pistol from the crime scene which were submitted to NPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Cruz said Borromeo was found positive for paraffin examination but was negative for drug test and for alcoholic breath.

The NPD Director assured the public that the full force of the law will be applied in the case of Borromeo and will let the wheel of justice roll.
