5 drug pushers fall inside Manila North Cemetery

FIVE persons, three of them women, said to be engaged in drug pushing activities inside the Manila North Cemetery, were arrested Saturday night by the Manila Police District-Station 3 in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

They were identified as Miguel De Guzman, 29, of No. 1283 Int. 23, Tambunting St., Sta. Cruz, Manila; Romelyn Somo, 25, of No. 2852 M. Hizon St., Sta. Cruz, Manila; Anna May Zapata, 37, of No. 45 Tagaytay St., Caloocan City; Rebecca Payumo, 56, of Tagaytay Street in Caloocan and Veronica Sarmiento, 43, of 2852 M. Hizon St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

P/ Lt. Col. John Guiagui, station commander of the MPD- Sta.Cruz Station 3, said the operation was conducted at around 11:30 p.m. inside the cemetery on 29th Street.

Guiagui said they received information regarding the illegal drug activities taking place inside the cemetery so that they acted on it.

The suspects, he said, were caught red-handed while selling shabu and yielded seven sachet sof shabu weighing 25 grams and with a street value of P170,000.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the suspects before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
