Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that the quarterly payout for the monthly financial assistance being given by the Manila city government for its residents who are persons with disablity (PWDs) and solo parents will already be distributed come first week of December.

Alongside this, Lacuna also said that as per the report from Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) chief Elinor Jacinto, the cash allowance for the city’s senior citizens covering the months of from September to December 2023 has already been processed and will be given out at the soonest time possible, way before Christmas.

Lacuna likewise announced that based on the report given by Manila department of social welfare (MDSW) head Re Fugoso, the MDSW will begin carrying out the distribution of the cash aid for its PWDs and solo parent beneficiaries during the first week of December.

The total amount that will be received by each PWD and solo parent in Manila is P3,000, covering the P500 monthly allowance from July to December this year.

The senior citizens, on the other hand, will be receiving P2,000 each, representing their P500 monthly allowance for four months, or from September kto December. This will be apart from the usual Christmas gifts that the city government provides its senior citizens every year.

In connection with this, Lacuna called on solo parents and PWDs to ensure that their identification cards are updated or not expired.

It was learned that the IDs for solo parents are renewable every year while those for PWDs are renewable every three years.

Fugoso explained that the purpose of renewals is to ensure that the solo parents and PWDs remain as such and that they continue to be residents of Manila, since the benefits being given out are meant to benefit Manila residents.

The provision of monthly cash assistance to senior citizens, solo parents and PWDs is part of the social amelioration program of the local government which also includes as beneficiaries the students from two city-run universities and Grade 12 students as well.

Fugoso said there are about 180,000 senior ctizens, over 17,000 solo parents and more than 33,000 PWDs in Manila to date.
