Buddy-buddy system at MPD following abductions

MANILA Police District (MPD) Director PBGen. Leo Francisco said a ‘buddy-buddy system’ will be implemented by MPD operatives after two consecutive incidents of kidnapping of Manila policemen by armed groups in the city.

“Ang ginawa ko sa MPD ay kinausap ang lahat ng kasama sa kapulisan at pinaalalahanan na sa kanilang araw-araw na gawain na kailangan sila ay mag-buddy-buddy system,” Francisco said in an interview.

It was learned that the MPD is looking into the possible connection between the abductions of PCpl. Allan Hilario of the Meisic Police Station 11 last February 18 and Patrolman Real Lopez Tesoro of the Jose Abad Santos Police Station, last February 23.

“Pinag-aaralan namin kung itong dalawang cases ng abduction dito sa Manila ay may relasyon. Kung titignan mo talaga, ito ay planado, halos parehas ‘yung kanilang modus operandi,” Francisco noted.

Probers said the families of the two cops have not been contacted by the kidnappers and the their locations remain unknown. The owner of the Isuzu Crosswind where Hilario was taken had been identified while the CCTV cameras in the area where the abduction took place are currently being reviewed.

The owner of the SUV that took Tesoro is still being verified.

Meanwhile, the activities of the victims and the units from where they came are also currently being looked into by the police.

“Kailangan kaming magmadali dahil buhay ito kaya kailangan silang makita kaagad… hindi maayos na naki-kidnapan kami ng pulis. Di kami makakapayag na ganun na lang,” Francisco said.
