A GRANDMOTHER who will be celebrating her 108th birthday on November 19, 2020, is the oldest recipient of the city of Manila’s ‘Paymaya Card,’ an ecstatic Mayor Isko Moreno announced yesterday.
The recipient, identified as Leopolda Gomez Robble, of Bgy.753 Zone 81 in Singalong, Manila in District 5, will be having her 108th birthday on November 19.
Moreno said Robble had no cellphone number so that the personnel assigned at the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) assisted her representative for her Paymaya Card to be duly registered with the city’s database.
The said cards are where the monthly allowance of senior citizens are coursed through. They receive P500 from the city government every month.
Moreno said Robble was assisted at one of the city’s ‘Oscalinga Centers’ where the elderly may go to if they need assistance in any matter concerning their welfare.
The mayor said each of the city’s six districts has one such center. They are located in District I-Vitas Aquatic Center; District II-TESDA Old Building; District III-Paraiso ng Batang Maynila; District IV-Paraiso ng Batang Maynila; District V-Bagong Buhay Complex and District VI-Teresa Covered Court.
Senior citizens may visit such centers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, or from Mondays to Fridays.
The mayor reminded the elderly not to go out of the house if they belong to the so-called high-risk age group of from 66 years old up, saying the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has allowed only those aged 18 to 65 to go out amid the pandemic.
Instead, he said they can send their representatives and they will be assisted just the same.
