Pasig to give cash aid to Rolly-hit provinces

THE Pasig City government will give financial assistance to provinces devastated by super typhoon “Rolly” to help victims to recover from the calamity amid the pandemic.

On Thursday, Mayor Vico Sotto conducted an emergency meeting for the approval of Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PCDRRMC) Resolution No. 7, Series of 2020, extending financial assistance and relief goods to provinces that were affected by the typhoon.

Under the resolution ,a P2 million assistance will be given to the Provincial Government of Catanduanes, P1 million for the Provincial Government of Albay, and P1 million for the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur.

Aside from the financial aid, the Pasig City government will also provide 10,000 units of relief goods exclusively for the victims of the typhoon in Catanduanes.

The financial assistance shall provide a temporary respite to those affected cities and municipalities in time of great distress while in the process of recovery and rehabilitation,” the resolution read.\

The City Council has also adopted the PCDRRMC resolution through Resolution No. 113, Series of 2020.

The strongest typhoon hit the Philippines this year destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 20 people in the Bicol region, Catanduanes and Albay provinces were hit hardest by Typhoon “Rolly” which struck the region as a supertyphoon on November 1.
