MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that two new ‘houses’ have been erected for the senior citizens being taken care of by the city government.

The said structures, Lacuna said, was inaugurated no less by Manila department of social welfare chief Re Fugoso in simple ceremonies recently.

“Pinasinayaan natin ang dalawang bagong bahay ng mga lolo at lola natin sa Luwahati ng Maynila sa Manila Boystown,” said Lacuna.

The lady mayor also thanked those who sponsored the building of the said two new houses for the senior wards at the Boystown Complex, saying all kinds of support are welcome in Manila.

For her part, Fugoso said: “Lubos ang pasasalamat ng Lungsod ng Maynila sa pamumuno ni Mayora Honey Lacuna at ng Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) sa Rotary Club of Manila Bay President William Yu at lahat ng bumubuo nito, kay PHILRACOM Chairman Reli De Leon at kay Senator Koko Pimentel.”

According to Fugoso, the newly-donated structures will help a lot in giving the senior wards more space to move around.

With the two new homes, she said the original structure housing the elderly wards will now be decongested accordingly.

Fugoso said that currently, the MDSW is taking care of at least 400 senior citizens at the Manila Boystown, apart from 30 kids at the Kids Home; 110, Girls Home; 140 Boys Home and 350 homeless and street dwellers.

The wards, she explained, are either already homeless or have been abandoned by their respective families.
