FOUR members of the Daanbantayan Municipal Police Station in Cebu cheated death when the motorized banca they were riding capsized in the waters of Medellin town due to bad weather last Saturday, the Police Regional Office 7 reported yesterday.
The survivors of the boat mishap in the waters of Sitio Sna Roque in Barangay Kawit at 2 p.m. Saturday were identified as Daanbantayan police chief, Major William Homoc, Staff Sergeant Clyde Andales, Corporal Roy Moleño and one Patrolman Vanguardia.
PRO7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said the policemen were conducting seaborne patrol at the municipal seawater within the Tañon Strait on board a private motorized banca when their boat sank.
Sinas said the issued firearms of SSgt. Andales fell down the sea when he went for a swim near a pumpboat whose crew came to their rescue.
The cell phones of the four policemen were also damaged by seawater, the official said.
