WE should observe and celebrate the “Buwan ng Wika” and “National Heroes’ Day” every day, according to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
The mayor said the young generation is no longer familiar with many Filipino words.
“Instilling among the children love of the Filipino language, country and national heritage must be a part of our daily lives,” he said. He added that this is also the reason why he ordered concerned local government units to help him restore and rehabilitate parks, plazas and shrines where monuments or headstones of Filipino heroes are situated.
“I would like Manilans, especially the younger generations, to follow our lead and show respect to those who have sacrificed their lives for our country,” Moreno said, saying he wants to send the message that ‘if you do something good for the country, you will be immortalized,’ just like those in whose memory monuments have been built.”
