THREE remnants of the ISIS inspired Maute Terror Group surrendered to government forces the other day in Lanao del Sur.
This was confirmed by Captain Clint Antipala, spokesman of Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry Division.
Identities of those who surrendered were not disclosed for security reason.
Antipala said the three former terrorists surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in Masiu Lanao del Sur on Thursday.
He said they yielded to Lt. Col. Edgar Villanueva, 49th Infantry Battalion Commander, thru the efforts of Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President Alonto Gubar, Bgy. Chairman Hamil Gubar of Sawir, Masiu and Maliksaif Masjida.
The three also surrendered one RPG, one caliber 45 pistol, magazines and ammunition.
The three, claimed they were recruited at the height of the Marawi siege.
