A 30-year-old construction worker died the other day when he fell from the 15th floor of a building site in Sampaloc, Manila.
Probers SPO1 Jorlan Taluban and PO3 John Bucad of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section identified the victim as Allan Pagulayan Mamanao, of Phase 1, Lot 15, East Belleveu Residence, San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.
The incident took place at around 3:40 p.m. at the construction site where the victim was one of the workers, located at the corner of P. Margal and Dos Castillas Streets in Sampaloc.
It was learned that the victim was with his co-worker Wilson Amar readying to jack up the tower crane at the 15th floor when he fell.
The victim reportedly told the crane operator to pull up the lifting crane when it snagged after hitting the scaffolding. The victim told the crane operator to stop but it was too late.
By the time the crane stopped, the scaffolding was already hanging from the lifting chain and the victim was seen trying to stop the scaffolding from falling and causing it from hitting people at the bottom.
However, due to the weight of the scaffolding, it fell just the same but the victim fell with it.
The victim was rushed to UST Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
