ZAMBOANGA (2nd District) Rep. Manuel Jose Dalipe and four of his family members were hospitalized in Zamboanga City after testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
On Tuesday, Dalipe’s father, Manuel, a former city mayor, was rushed to the hospital after he manifested COVID-19 symptoms.
Swab test results subsequently revealed that the Dalipe patriarch was positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker, his wife Keenah and two daughters, Margaret and Baby Madison, were rushed to the hospital Wednesday after their swab test result also showed they were positive for COVID-19.
Dalipe revealed in his social media account on Thursday that they too contracted the virus after they came into close contact with his father.
“We received a call from the City Health Office informing us that the result of the swab test, I am positive of COVID, my wife Keenah and two of my children. We have undergone swab tests because we had close contact with our father, former Mayor Manny Dalipe, who was first infected and declared as positive. We are now here at the hospital confined,” the congressman said.
He, meanwhile, thanked the doctors who are taking care of them.
“We ask for your prayers, for my father, my wife, and my children. Prayers for healing, this is our first day in our fight against COVID-19. With your prayers, we’ll be able to recover and heal fast,” he added.
Congressman Dalipe said his father could have contracted the virus from their driver whose neighbor recently died of COVID-19.
