SPEAKER Pantaleon Alvarez said he is ready to be the campaign manager of the administration’s
senatorial team in the 2019 elections.
“Tatanggapin ko iyan kung yan ang trabaho na ibibigay sa akin sa 2019. That is my duty and
obligation to accept it,” Alvarez said in an interview.
Alvarez said they have a formidable team since they have lot of winnable candidates.
“Sobra-sobra na binilang ko. Lahat naman considered ng partido. Kaya lang, tingnan natin yung
talagang may capability na manalo,” he said.
Alvarez is the current Secretary General of the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan
Earlier, PDP-Laban President and Senate President Koko Pimentel said they will ask Alvarez to
be the campaign manager of the team.
Pimentel also named the first six possible candidates of the administration team that include
himself, Majority Leader Rudy Fariñas, Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez, Davao City Rep. Karlo
Alexei Nograles, Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman and former MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino.
Meanwhile, Alvarez said they might not accept re-electionists who are not members of PDP.
“Kailangan PDP. May mga coalition partners tayo, pero as much as possible gusto ko PDP,” he
The Speaker said for the meantime, the party will only accept candidates from the Nacionalista
Party (NP) of the Villars since they have been partners for a long time.
When asked if he is also running for senator, the House leader said he is not interested.
“Congressman lang ako. Okay na ako dito,” the Representative of Davao del Norte said.
